Skyline Launchpad

Enabling the Student Space-Race from Norway

The challenge

Rocket science is hard. Travelling abroad to launch in international competitions makes it a lot harder, and with the ongoing student race to space, there is a need to launch domestically to reduce cost and increase flexibility to enable one of the five Norwegian student rocketry teams to reach 100 km.

01

Our Soultion

Skyline, an initiative by NORSTEC, tackles this by promoting domestic launch efforts and supporting ongoing work to establish launch sites across Norway among member organizations.

03

Proven Success

In 2024, a NORSTEC member launched a rocket from private property, adhering to civil airspace regulations, and another member received approval to launch a bi-propellant liquid rocket, setting a precedent for future Skyline efforts.

02

Priorities

Skyline prioritizes that the ongoing efforts are developed with safety, reliability and repeatability in mind, and that the launch sites are accessible to all Norwegian student rocketry teams.

04

The Road to launch

By facilitating two rocket launches from different Norwegian locations in 2025, Skyline aims to create standardized procedures, making rocketry a more accessible and routine activity for students.
